My latest quick poll amongst teens in DK shows that 26,88% of the teens from 12-15 years have a Facebook account.
Age..
70% of the users sign in more than once a day.

Login frequency..
The usage of the social network is very similar to grown-ups way of using Facebook. Sharing pictures, attending groups, playing games and so on are the major reasons for using the network. However, teens also see this as an alternative to other communication forms. Several respondents says that using Facebook to some extend replaces SMS. The reason for this is flexibility and freedom to respond when ever the time is right. In that sense Facebooks internal mailsystem has given “mail-correspondance” a revival within the teen-world.

Other reasons for using the mail-system within Facebook, is the fact that users have all friends close and with the login frequency mails sent through this service seems like an easy and free alternative to SMS. Facebook also provides the teens with an updated address book and the traditional need for keeping contact information is not present.
The younger part of the teen-audience on Facebook tend to have less personal information on their profile, and the profile picture often shows idols from tv or toys.
In that way, the anonymity is key and the users can play around in the community without exposing their true me. When making friends with the “undercover” teen, real life pictures can be seen, and shared.
Though mails seem like an alternative to SMS, the main usage of mobile in the target group is still SMS. 30% of the time spend using mobile is sending/reading smses closely followed by phone calls.
Interaction on the mobile e.g. gaming and watching video is 23% of the time.
